Croydon Council has set up a task force to support local employers and businesses in the wake of the Coronavirus (COVID-19).
The new task force enables the council to adopt a business led approach to its delivery of critical support to businesses and employers across the borough, during this challenging time.
Advice and support is on offer to any sized business or employer that needs it and guidance is available to help manage a range of issues, including companies facing closure or experiencing cash flow problems or staff and recruitment difficulties as a result of the pandemic.
The business task force has seen Croydon Council partner with the London Growth Hub, Coast to Capital, the Federation of Small Businesses, the London Chamber of Commerce, the London Enterprise Action Partnership (LEAP) and business improvement districts (BIDs); to ensure local businesses are able to access the tailored support they need.
Croydon businesses are also being advised to visit the council website and utilise a dedicated online resource set up by the London Growth Hub with practical help and guidance on business continuity, which will enable them to decide on the most appropriate course of action for their businesses.
“Croydon’s businesses are vital to the borough’s economy and setting up this task force, with a business led approach, will help ensure they receive support tailored to their individual circumstances.
“I’d encourage all local employers and businesses to seek our help if they are struggling and to sign up to our business newsletter which will keep them informed of the latest government announcements on the support and financial initiatives available to them at this critical time.”
Councillor Manju Shahul-Hameed, cabinet member for economy and jobs
